Last night I saw the remake of Don. It’s a well made movie, worth a dekho. I looked at watch only twice during the movie which is good from Hindi movie standard. But don’t try to compare the new Don with the old Don. Don ko copy karna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hain (Say it in Big B eshtyle :) )
Farhan Akhtar is a good director and he does a good job of putting enough twists in the story of original Don to keep the movie interesting. He does a good job of borrowing from Hollywood movies. The direction is superb and the movie is slick. But the first half which is copy of original Don drags a bit. I felt as if Sharukh is not able to control his face while trying to look sinister. His acting became good once Vijay comes into the picture. Priyanka Chopra does a decent job but Kareena Kapoor is not even a shadow of Helen. Om Puri is underused. For me the hero of this movie is Boman Irani. He does a great job as DCP D'Silva.
But the bottom line is that Amitabh is the only Don, anyone else is just a pretender.
